Lisbon

Portugal, Europe

Lisbon, also known as the “the city of seven hills” is the beautiful and charming capital of Portugal. It is very old but was almost destroyed in the massive earthquake in 1755. The oldest part of town, Alfama, was not damaged in the earthquake, so it is a place to visit when one wants to experience the rich history of Lisbon. The Santa Engrácia church was listed in the Guinness Book of Records for an interesting reason - for having the longest construction time in the world, from the 17th century until 1966. Lisbon is the home of the longest bridge in Europe, Vasco Da Gama Bridge (17 km) and the music genre fado.
